This bottle of Marilyn Merlot wine is glamour in a glass, it’s a conversation piece, it’s the ultimate gift - elegant, all curves, and drinking beautifully. The release of the 2008 vintage celebrates the 24th vintage of a wine appreciated by fans of the iconic star, collectors of Marilyn memorabilia, and lovers of fine Napa Valley wine.
The striking and glamorous image of Marilyn Monroe in a purple, shoulderless cocktail dress is from photos done for the release of The Asphalt Jungle in 1950, a film noir classic for which John Huston was nominated for an Oscar and in which Marilyn plays to perfection her role as the mistress of a crooked attorney. "People always talk about the collectability of Marilyn Merlot," says Donna Holder, an owner of Marilyn Wines, "but we find quite often that our customers buy three bottles – one to collect, one to enjoy now, and one to give to a wine-loving friend. And Marilyn herself wouldn’t have just collected these wines, she would have drunk them as she was more the 'sip and celebrate life' kind of person."
All accolades aside, we should mention the wine has been meticulously stored but serves ultimately for its collectable beauty and not necessarily for its drinkability. There is no guarantee for the wine itself, but the bottle and label are in perfect condition.
